Friday Five

Happy Friday, y’all! Has this felt like the longest week ever to anyone else? I am ready for the weekend!! We’re grabbing breakfast tomorrow morning with some sweet friends of ours and then headed to a wedding for another friend tomorrow afternoon. It’ll be the first wedding we’ve been to at the church we got married in since we got married there more than four years ago. Cra-zy.

Anyways, on the Friday Five…

Happy Friday, y’all! I’ve felt good the past 24 hours, so I’m hoping this trend continues and I can get some things done around the house this weekend. I’m in desperate need of purging our closets (mine specifically). So, feel free to send all the good vibes my way 😉

How to Wear Rain Boots

It’s been a dreary few days (weeks? months? IS IT EVER GOING TO STOP RAINING?!) around here and this Monday feels like a Monday fo sho. So to help with the rainy Monday blues, I’ve put together the best ways to wear rain boots and still look stylish!

First up, I love the way they look with dresses. You can pair your dress with a cozy cardigan, blanket scarf, tall socks and/or tights. Doesn’t the outfit directly below look so cozy and cute – not to mention effortless?

Next, similar to pairing your rain boots with a dress, you can wear your rain boots with skirts of all kinds – pencil, A-line, flare, mini, etc…

Pairing your rain boots with jeans seems to look very ‘American girl next door’ to me – just make sure you’re pairing them with your skinny jeans to give it a sleek look. Jeans go with anything so it only makes sense to pair them with your rain boots. There’s a little nugget of wisdom for your Monday. You’re welcome ladies. I’m here all week.

And finally, my favorite way to wear rain boots? With leggings! They go on super easy, your legs are also protected from the rain and it’s a ridiculously comfortable outfit that look casual or a little more put together. Win, win, win. Win?

Hopefully, this rain will end soon and just leave us with some cooler temps. It’s been in the 80s here in Montgomery up until this past weekend, so it would be nice if we could at least pretend like we get a fall here…sadly, I think we’re scooting right across it and headed directly for winter. At least we can now break out the scarves, boots and jackets!

Friday Five

Well, we made it guys. Friday is here again. Enter raise the roof emoji here. In case you missed my post from Tuesday, I’ve been under the weather this week so that would explain the lack of posts. I’m feeling much better today, although my sinuses would have to disagree. I sound like a 1940s telephone operator (errr, “operatah”). This weekend will be full of resting, cleaning, organizing, watching football and holiday schedule scheming. On to the five…blue-yellow-pink-christmas-tree-3

1   |   Loving these DIY Christmas ornaments. Don’t even start on the ‘it’s too early’ stuff. I don’t want to hear it. I’m already thinking of ways to convince my husband to set up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. Don’t tell 😉

2   |   This nursery is sheer perfection.

3   |   I feel like adding these will soon be a project at our house.

4   |   Jenny always has the best DIYs and this one is getting added to my list.

5   |   A friend of mine was wearing these recently and I fell hard for them. Need.

I hope you each have a wonderful weekend. Unless you’re an LSU fan. Sorry. But you can have a good weekend next weekend. I’ll allow that.

Skimp or Splurge: Loeffler Randall

I’ve seen tons of gals wearing the Loeffler Randall ‘Ambra’ lace up flats and they are so dang cute. One problem: They are $295 and I just can’t bring myself to pay that price for a pair of shoes that are more on the trendy side than the classic side. So after perusing a few stores, I found some amazing ones that fit my budget a bit lot better. Here’s the splurge…

Would you skimp or splurge? I’m definitely loving the  lace up trend lately!

Oversized Scarves for Every Budget

My absolute favorite fall and winter accessory is a scarf. It’s so easy to just throw on some jeans and a top, then layer with a scarf and it seems to up your whole outfit and make it all come together. And I am all for easy outfits. Jeans. Shirt. Scarf. BOOM. BAM. DONE. SON.

Oversized scarves or blanket scarves, in particular, have been big (pun intended) these past few seasons and it seems they are again. So what better way to kick off the start of cooler temps than giving y’all a few oversized scarf options for every budget!

I picked up the ninth one above last weekend and love it! Now if it would just get a little colder here, I could enjoy all my scarves!

Skimp or Splurge: Western Ankle Booties

Happy Monday, y’all! Over the weekend, I wandered into Target looking for a pair of booties I saw online that seemed like nearly perfect dupes for the Dolce Vita ‘Grayden’ bootie that I’ve been drooling over.  And they are even better in person! Without further ado, here is the splurge version which comes in at $140…

And here is the version I picked up at Target called the Merona ‘Sawyer’ booties which are only $34.99…

I picked up the smoke colored ones and they are SO comfortable! I wore them around all day yesterday and they didn’t rub or hurt my feet. At only $35 bucks a pop, I think I may order the taupe colored ones, too!
