Friday Five

Hello sweet friends! We made it to Friday again (enter praise hands emoji)! This week a miracle happened. I’ve been begging my husband to let me get our Christmas tree out of storage, but he kept insisting that we wait until Thanksgiving…which I totally get. Look, I didn’t ask to be this crazy early Christmas decorator, but this year I just need that extra sparkle in my living room for an extended amount of time. Still, Zach was firm that it was too early. So being the spitfire resourceful gal I am, I remembered we had a tiny tree that could sit up on our built-in bookcase and I set it up in protest. HELL NO WE WON’T GO…or something like that.

I came home from work on Tuesday, I pulled into our driveway, got out of the car and walked to our back door. What do I see? OUR CHRISTMAS TREE! It’s a dang Thanksgiving miracle, folks. I was so excited I even busted out in dance (side note: I’m a horrible dancer. Think Elaine from Seinfeld. Little kicks.) This weekend, I’ll be finishing up putting lights on our nine-foot tree. Just call me Clark.

Now let’s see what else I’ve been loving this week…

1  |  How perfect are these for your holiday place settings?

2  |  I tried a bunch of these products and loved them (and their mission) so much I’m now a consultant! (more on that soon!)

3  |  This speaks to me on so many levels.

4  |  I picked these up recently and they are perfection!

5  |  Finalizing my Thanksgiving menu and this appetizer looks delish.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Hostess with the Mostess Gifts

Y’all. It’s still so dreary here. I’m pretty sure I requested someone do a ‘no-rain dance’ so what the heck happened? If you’ll just go ahead and fix it I won’t get too crabby. Although, I can’t say that my hair won’t be mad. She’s very temperamental.

This is the time of year when things start to rev up and get much busier for everyone. Thanksgiving is around the corner and after that we all just seem to go into overdrive with holiday parties, events and visiting family. With all of these parties and get-togethers, I think it’s always nice to show up with a little something for the host and/or hostess. Just a little token of gratitude for them opening up their home and me not having to frantically clean my house and act like this (my husband thanks you as well for not having to endure my hysterics).

Here are a few of my favorite ideas for hostess gifts!

Hostess Gifts

1  |  Tea Towel – These are not only cute, but useful, too! I love getting ones locally and pairing them with a homemade baked good or some cute measuring spoons.

2  |  Recipe Cards – If you’re going to a potluck or holiday event where you’re already bringing a dish, pick up some recipe cards to pair with it! Go ahead and write your recipe on one then tie the stack of them together with some baker’s twine!

3  |  Boxwood Wreath – Everyone loves a little (faux) greenery! Tie a bow on the wreath to make it a bit more festive. Another option is to pick up a little potted plant and tie a bow around it. Although I have a black thumb, I always love having some green around the house.

4  |  Wine Tote – Grab the host/hostesses favorite bottle of wine and tuck it into this cute tote. Easy and cute!

5  |  Cocktail Napkins – I seem to have a collection of cute and colorful cocktail napkins at our house and I always love having an assortment for parties and get-togethers. Bring some for the hostess along with some homemade cheese straws!

6  |  Cake Stand – These are great for bringing your cake or pie on and gifting the host with the stand. These are also awesome for showcasing on bookshelves, in china cabinets and I love having them by the sink in the kitchen or bathroom to hold soaps and lotions.

7  |  Candle – Well, this is just obvious. Candles are simple gifts that just about everyone loves to get. My favorites are the mini versions of the Capri Blue in Volcano and the Voluspa French Cade Lavender. Pair it with some cute matches and it’s a thoughtful and cozy gift during the winter months.

8  | Coasters – These are great to give with a bottle of wine or maybe some wine glasses. I love the look of marble coasters because they go with everything and suit multiple styles.

9  |  Coffee Mug – These mugs are so cute! They have them in black and white, too (I have one for me and one for Zach). I think these are great paired with homemade hot chocolate mix or dipped spoons. Or pick up the Williams-Sonoma hot chocolate and call it a day (it is beyond delicious!).

10  |  Picture Frame – Everyone can use a picture frame! If it’s for family, maybe pop in a family picture so it’s ready to be displayed.

11  |  Vase – One of my favorites. Easy to get and just need to add fresh flowers. Aren’t these gorgeous?

12  |  Bottle Stopper – Again, add wine. Can you tell I like getting giving wine?

What are some of your favorite gifts to give and get as a hostess?

Southern Homes & Gardens

Hey girl heyyy! Remember my post from Friday and how I mentioned that I’d be getting some Christmas shopping done this past weekend? Well, it happened. I did it. Well not all of it, but some. One of the stores I ventured to is one of my favorite shops in Montgomery, Southern Homes & Gardens.

They have such a large variety of items! They specialize in plants and flowers (with a huge greenhouse on site), but have everything from furniture, lamps, mirrors and home decor to candles, wreaths, jewelry and clothing. They have a huge variety of pillows that are all reasonably priced…

How great are these paintings?! And they come in under $200…

Such great Christmas and holiday decor!

They carry some of my favorite candles, the Capri Blue Volcano candles (aka: Anthropologie candles) along with several other amazing ones…

I may have to go back and get one of these cotton wreaths and some garland!

SHG 13

I’m loving all of the marble used these days and they have tons of it!

How cute is this light-up marquee letter?

Tons of table runners and placemats!

And I thought this was pretty accurate…

So if you live in the Montgomery area, take a trip to Southern Homes & Gardens and pick up a few gifts for the folks on your list!

Get the Look: White and Blue Living Room

I’ve had this image saved on my desktop for a few years now. It’s one of my favorites. I love the mix of chic and casual. I’m working on switching out a few things in our living room and I have a feeling a lot of what I plan to do will mimic the look and feel of this room.

Lonny - Christy Ford Living Room

Gorgeous, right? Whites. Blues. Leopard. Heart eyes. I’ve always had a love for blues and whites, and I know I can’t be the only one loving this living room. So, let’s see how you can get the look!

I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! I’ve gotten a good bit of our Christmas shopping done and it’s so nice to start crossing things off my long list of to-do’s!

Friday Five

Happy Friday! This weekend will be the first in several that Zach and I will both be home with no plans…and I AM SO EXCITED. I need to get some deep cleaning done, organizing, purging and best of all – Christmas shopping! Mostly online because heaven knows I cannot handle the crazies out shopping for long. I feel so ahead of the game this year with our shopping. I already have a few gifts purchased for and we at least have an idea of what we’re getting for everyone. If you have your shopping all done already, I do not want to hear it. You can go sit in that little corner over yonder with all of the other super organized, stress-free people. This area is for those of us who procrastinate and wish we could be like y’all. Anyways, on to the Friday Five…

1  |  These style tips couldn’t come at a better time.

2  |  I have one of these on my desktop right now. Love!

3  |  Well, this is genius.

4  |  I think these would be such perfect gifts.

5  |  I want to eat this right now. Or everything Stephanie makes.

How to Wear Rain Boots

It’s been a dreary few days (weeks? months? IS IT EVER GOING TO STOP RAINING?!) around here and this Monday feels like a Monday fo sho. So to help with the rainy Monday blues, I’ve put together the best ways to wear rain boots and still look stylish!

First up, I love the way they look with dresses. You can pair your dress with a cozy cardigan, blanket scarf, tall socks and/or tights. Doesn’t the outfit directly below look so cozy and cute – not to mention effortless?

Next, similar to pairing your rain boots with a dress, you can wear your rain boots with skirts of all kinds – pencil, A-line, flare, mini, etc…

Pairing your rain boots with jeans seems to look very ‘American girl next door’ to me – just make sure you’re pairing them with your skinny jeans to give it a sleek look. Jeans go with anything so it only makes sense to pair them with your rain boots. There’s a little nugget of wisdom for your Monday. You’re welcome ladies. I’m here all week.

And finally, my favorite way to wear rain boots? With leggings! They go on super easy, your legs are also protected from the rain and it’s a ridiculously comfortable outfit that look casual or a little more put together. Win, win, win. Win?

Hopefully, this rain will end soon and just leave us with some cooler temps. It’s been in the 80s here in Montgomery up until this past weekend, so it would be nice if we could at least pretend like we get a fall here…sadly, I think we’re scooting right across it and headed directly for winter. At least we can now break out the scarves, boots and jackets!

Friday Five

Well, we made it guys. Friday is here again. Enter raise the roof emoji here. In case you missed my post from Tuesday, I’ve been under the weather this week so that would explain the lack of posts. I’m feeling much better today, although my sinuses would have to disagree. I sound like a 1940s telephone operator (errr, “operatah”). This weekend will be full of resting, cleaning, organizing, watching football and holiday schedule scheming. On to the five…blue-yellow-pink-christmas-tree-3

1   |   Loving these DIY Christmas ornaments. Don’t even start on the ‘it’s too early’ stuff. I don’t want to hear it. I’m already thinking of ways to convince my husband to set up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. Don’t tell 😉

2   |   This nursery is sheer perfection.

3   |   I feel like adding these will soon be a project at our house.

4   |   Jenny always has the best DIYs and this one is getting added to my list.

5   |   A friend of mine was wearing these recently and I fell hard for them. Need.

I hope you each have a wonderful weekend. Unless you’re an LSU fan. Sorry. But you can have a good weekend next weekend. I’ll allow that.

Skimp or Splurge: Loeffler Randall

I’ve seen tons of gals wearing the Loeffler Randall ‘Ambra’ lace up flats and they are so dang cute. One problem: They are $295 and I just can’t bring myself to pay that price for a pair of shoes that are more on the trendy side than the classic side. So after perusing a few stores, I found some amazing ones that fit my budget a bit lot better. Here’s the splurge…

Would you skimp or splurge? I’m definitely loving the  lace up trend lately!

Friday Five

It’s Fridayyyyy. We’re headed to my hometown of Marietta, Georgia, this weekend to see our six-year-old nephew play his last baseball game of the season and to cuddle with our new (only 12 weeks old!) niece. The weather should be perfect!

On to the Friday Five…
Inside the Draper James flagship in Nashville.

1  |  I’m smitten over Reese Witherspoon’s new Draper James store.

2  |  I need this coat in my life (and it’s under $100!).

3  |  Loving these art prints and think I may need to scoop one up.

4  |  Well, if this isn’t the cutest (and most on-trend) pumpkin DIY ever.

5  |  I made this the other night and holy. yum.

Four Years

Four years ago, I was lucky enough to get to marry my best friend. It’s been a wonderful and crazy four years, and I am so blessed he chose me to share this journey with. In honor of our anniversary, I thought I’d share a lot some of my favorite wedding photos of us…

And my all-time favorite photo of us that perfectly sums up our personalities and our relationship…

Here’s to many more years of fun together!
